Introducing Myself

I am a woman with many hats. I am a teacher, learner, mother, wife and DIY'er. After teaching for 10 years, I decided to make the leap into higher education.  This wasn't an easy decision to make as I love being in a classroom, but after much reflection, I felt that this was the best choice for me and my family. Now I am currently a PhD student at George Mason University with a primary emphasis on Teaching and Teacher Education, and a secondary Emphasis on Literacy.  Woven throughout both of those ideas is the inclusion of technology in instruction.

You see, I feel that our world is changing and we need to be including technology into our instruction to help prepare our students to be 21st century learners.  Technology has the ability to open our education system to the world.  As learners we can be connected across the glove.  Information is now at our finger tips, and there are so many learning opportunities that are simply being wasted because teachers can't access them, they don't know how to use them, or they simply don't believe that technology has a place in education.

My goal is simple:  Help teachers understand how to use technology in their classroom by sharing information that will allow them to successfully incorporate technology into their teaching.

Note: a likely "side-effect" of my goal is watching me "jump" on my soapbox every now and again.  It's a result of the passion I hold so dearly for this profession that I find close to my heart.
